very happy with this item, i got it for my husband for when he is cutting the lawn or cutting timber with chainsaw.they could be a bit louder for when he's using the chainsaw, but he's still very happy with them anyway. the price was good, the shipping was very fast. got them in Ireland from USA on 3rd day after ordering it. shipping price was bit high. but they work perfectly. cant faulty them in anyway. would buy them again.
To make my weekly 2-hour grass-mowing tractor ride more tolerable, I've tried to listen to audio-books. The problem was that my iPod Touch just couldn't drive any of my ear-buds or ear-phones to a volume sufficient to get through the tractor noise. These phones are the first I've found that do the job. They block the noise so effectively that I can even listen at lower-than-max iPod volume.
I have no interest in the radio - - I just want to play audio-books and MP3 files - - and it's a good thing, as the radio is useless (at least in my reception-challenged area). So, no need for batteries.
The phones are very comfortable, and, being "industrial-strength", they're rugged. Grass-cutting is now almost fun!
When I am not on patrol, I live in a rural area but he has been amazed at how clear the stations are picked up and how good the sound quality is. Excellent hearing protection as well....he never hears the cellphone when i call to tell him it is time for dinner, but oh well....you cant have it all i suppose! This is a really great product I bought these headphones for my husband who is a farmer and therefore spends a lot of time out on the tractors. He had an older pair that he had misplaced so i bought him this pair. HE LOVES IT! Says it is much better than the older model because you can preset the radio stations you want to listen to rather than fumble around with a dial.
I use these safety headphones while mowing the lawn. Does a sufficient job of muffling the mower noise - I don't feel like I'm going to experience hearing loss if I'm mowing for an hour straight.
The radio is fine - I don't expect crystal clear sound nor do I expect the stations to not fade in and out. Like other reviews have stated, there is some static that comes through now and then but for the most part, the distraction of listening to the radio is there while I mow.
I haven't used the iPod attachment but my wife has and loves it. The unit does come with the ipod cord (I read a review that indicated it didn't) and the sound does come into both ears (again, read a review that said it didn't). She only listens to her ipod when using these and hasn't had any problems.
For the price, they get the job done.
These hearing protectors do a stellar job of canceling outside sounds--so much so that I don't wear them anymore when working with a partner on a construction site. They are great for running a chainsaw, mower or circular saw by yourself; you can hear the motor of the tool you're using enough to know if it is functioning correctly, but not much else. They are also great for using with an iPod, which is the main reason I picked these headphones, but I can't recommend them for their radio reception, which is only fair. Overall, a good deal unless you are set on using the radio.
